  • How much will this electrical job cost me?

We know our customers prefer an accurate price based on their unique electrical issues. However, phone quotes are subject to change once the technician sees the job. Since this is unfair to you, we prefer to diagnose the problem in person so you know exactly what it will cost before we begin working.

  • What's the difference between a regular breaker and an arc-fault breaker?

Breakers are designed to prevent the wires in your home or business from becoming overloaded. They are designed to turn off automatically if the circuit is carrying too much load or if there is a short circuit. Arc-fault breakers can additionally sense arcing in a circuit. Arcing is the sparking you see between two damaged conductors, and due to being extremely hot, it is a fire hazard.

A regular breaker may not sense arcing because it does not always create the load needed to trip the breaker. An arc-fault breaker will sense arcing and shut down the breaker before a fire can start. These devices must be tested on a monthly basis to ensure safe and proper operation.

  • What is a GFCI receptacle?

A Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) receptacle is designed to protect against electrical shock when using electrical devices near water. GFCI receptacles sense when power is going where it shouldn't, and shuts off at the first sign of a problem.

Most codes specify that GFCI receptacles must be used in bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms, and outdoor areas. These devices are designed and required to be tested monthly to ensure proper operation.

You can test a GFCI outlet by pressing the test button to make sure it turns off, then pressing the reset button to turn it back on. If either the test or reset button does not work, the device needs to be replaced.

  • What is whole-home surge protection and do I need it in my home?

Modern homes are more full of electronics than they have ever been. Whole-home surge protection provides protection against surges and spikes to all the electrical equipment in your home.

It acts like a high-quality surge protector we often buy for entertainment or computer systems, but it protects all the devices in your home, including the electronic components of refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers,  dishwasher coffee makers, and anything else that wouldn't normally have the protection.

We recommend whole-home surge protectors for all homes to protect all your electronics.

  • What are service calls?

Service calls are calls to troubleshoot electrical devices to determine why the device is not working and correct the issue. Our technician comes to your home or office, with a van or truck fully stocked with a wide variety of materials to resolve the issue within a couple of hours.
